My Favorite Setting Spray

So, here in lovely Charleston, we got exactly one month of spring. Which was glorious. But it's been in the 90s all week, so it's basically summer, right? Don't get me wrong, I love the summer time. I just hate being hot. And being outdoors when it's hot. Unless there is a boat, beach or booze involved. I am not the outdoorsy type. I'm not alone in this, right?

With wedding season at it's peak, you're sure to attend some kind of outdoor ceremony/cocktail hour/reception. Whether you're a bridesmaid or a guest, you want your special night out makeup to stay fresh from pre-ceremony pictures to sending off the happy couple. And those balmy evenings in backyards with friends or at baseball games, you definitely want to rock a more natural look, but still want your face to stay on. In the southern humidity, you might say this is impossible. I used to think so, too. Just put on your makeup, set with a spray and hope for the best. No longer do you have to leave it to chance.

Model in a Bottle. The hands down, absolute best setting spray. Ever. I've tried Urban Decay All Nighter, Mac Fix+ and elf Makeup Mist. None of these hold up to Model in a Bottle. It dries to a matte finish and doesn't leave any sticky residue.

Once you've applied your makeup (but before mascara), spritz about 4 pumps on your face and let it set. I've found that if you apply the spray after mascara, it can cause it to run a bit, or flake later.

Bonus tip: For a little extra staying power, apply a translucent setting powder all over your face (love this one from elf), spritz a few times on your face. Then spray a few times directly on a tissue, and press into skin where you need extra insurance. I typically do this in my T-zone and only if I know I'm going to be out dancing the night away. Otherwise, just a few spritzes will have you good to for the evening.

Even better bonus: But wait! There's more! This weekend, Model in a Bottle is having a most excellent sale through May 12, 35% off with the code "Mom35"! The spray is normally $18, but with the discount it's $11.70! The sensitive skin formula (which is my favorite) is normally $21 and $13.65 with the discount. This is a great chance to try it out or stock up. You'll thank me later. I never do a makeup job without this stuff. It's an essential in my kit and in my own personal stash. Love it. Let me know if you try it and what you think!
